And by that I mean Firebird. To be exact, a 1967 Pontiac Firebird 400 Ram Air with the 4 speed manual and a/c (which could be added later) in Verdoro Green. Now you ask yourself, but that color could also be had in the 1968 model which would increase your chances of finding one. NO! because for some reason, I have to have those wing windows which only came on the ‘67 model. I did get to drive a modified one about 100 miles and romp it a little. That is an experience I will never forget. The car in question was owned by Jim Wangers, the Godfather of the GTO. What an amazing guy to know and hangout with quite often due to my mom in a relationship with his right hand man.
67' Firebird: Built 455 with SD Performance heads backed by TH400, complete performance suspension and a 3.31 12-bolt Posi.
That was a cool car to drive. Notice the wing windows? Check out this 68...
Yup no wing windows.
Unfortunately these have gone up in price recently to stupid numbers. A decent driver with shit interior and shit paint is around $10k+. And I have seen them past $50k... I wish I could go back to the 80's and pick one of these up, of a few. Cause back them they were just old gas hogs that most didn’t want anymore. Who knew....
UPDATE:
Been looking in the middle of the country, there is potential out there, but nothing just right. The search will continue for both the car and the money for it.
I would say decent price if this had a motor... F**K people over price their shit.

I love these too, but they’re definitely in the mental category of cars in my head which are “I love these, but they’re so far out of my price range I don’t even allow myself to consider actually owning them.”
Weirdly though, building a ‘20s grand prix car replica seems perfectly reasonable to me. My mental categorization of cars and potential ownership doesn’t always make sense.

When I was showing my 68 Camaro at the forest grove concours in July I had a 67 Firebird Spring convertible in my class. Was a really clean car, and a neat surprise to see.

Unfortunately this is in my Top 5 cars I must own, so I can’t stop thinking about it. I’ll find one eventually....

Those are uncommon now. Everyone has put a 350 in it. Which is sad. More people should love Pontiac motors. LONG LIVE THE 400!!!!

Why not just find a clean 67 Bird, and make it what you want?

Thats is an option too. Just hard to find in a condition I could drive and work on. Because I don’t want to hack up a good one. I also don’t really want to deal with a 350 car if I don’t have to and so many people have 350s or swapped for a 350 because they are stupid and don’t realize how great the 400 is.

Why not just find one that was/is a project or a nice 6 that needs love, and swap a built 455 in with the 4 speed?

NO! Fuck the 455. I really want to built a Pontiac 400 motor up. I am so down for a project, but again, hard to find. At least with any sort of worth to me. I don’t want and overpriced rust bucket or shell. That is literally worth nothing to me. Why should I pay $7k for your empty shell? It just isn’t worth it. I think I will probably have to pull a Cleatus and go cross country to find just the right one.

That ‘68 is pretty close to what I am looking for, but 350, auto, blah blah blah.
The ‘67 is just terrible. I hate 90's seats in classic cars. I know it can be changed, but my god do people have no taste?
Thanks for scouting it out though, I can check Florida off the list.

lots of body rot. None of it is structural (yet) but given they make all new panels it is more going to be an expense later than an issue now. dynacorn even makes whole new bodies for these 1st gen cars (but not my beautiful 79 :’( but hey 3300$ doesn’t buy much car anymore.

I hate the 90s interior in muscle cars. Who in the hell decided that grey tweed looked good? Check out the midwest and Texas.
No problem.

Seriously, if you need crappy non factory seats just get the cheap asian eBay faux leather ones. At least those don’t scream I could only afford the seats out of my 97 Firebird that I bought for my Son, but he wrecked it and now it sits under a tarp in my driveway leaking oil and killing the lawn.

Can't post pics right now but I did a full write up, check my profile. It does drive- due to some leaky seals and stuck bolts I am doing a partial engine rebuild but it drove home from Ohio.

Been waiting to get my car back from the mechanic. This engine pull is a little much right now so I have to push it back to spring, but it isn't a big setback since I should have done it anyway. Once that is done I can go for inspection and start actually improving it rather than just fixing stuff.

Thanks for making me feel worse.....
To bring it down to Miami, and have monthly parking for the GTO and Firebird would cost me 300 a month. Plus my gf’s car, so 450 a month for 3 cars....

WHAT?! Why in the world do you pay so much for parking? I thought you had a house according to your pictures any way. I don’t mean to make you feel worse, just jabbing at you.

It’s cool man. I can handle the jabs. lol
No, I moved from a house in GA down to Miami Beach. I still go back up there occasionally to visit my family and friends. Parking on South Beach is insane, and living here isn’t car friendly. We managed to get a deal on our parking. Most people pay 180-200 now...
The pictures of my apartment are dark with bad lighting. I have some on the oppositelock group on facebook. Unless I park where maintenance crews park at for photos. Like this photo.

Oh man, I can’t imagine having to pay for parking. That just seems ridiculous. You like the move? I did not like Florida when I visited years ago, but then again I was a kid... So I may be biased. I also don’t like heat or humidity.

I moved from SE Ga to Miami Beach, so I do like it a lot. Although parking and tow trucks suck ass here. It isn’t as hot or as humid as Savannah is in the Summer, but then again I do love my heat and humidity. This is a pretty cool place though. I like walking everywhere and seeing all of the rental exotics idle around. It is sad though most of them will ever experience a long full throttle blast, besides being in a parking spot. Plus most of them can’t drive once there is an opening in traffic, and makes them easy goat food. lol
